Wu-Jen, Lexicon of Elements

Every level a Wu-Jen advances gains him one point
to invest in a sphere of study. There are five
spheres available: earth, air, fire, water, and
spirit. There are six degrees of mastery of each
sphere. To advance a degree, a Wu-Jen must study
that sphere in the great library (u,n in the Mage
Guild) of the Mages. Every degree of advancement
costs its level in points, thus to advance to 2nd
degree in Earth costs 2 points. Every level
offers new powers to the Wu-Jen. These powers may
be viewed in the library by listing each spheres
powers.
The Wu-Jen may choose to advance in several of
the spheres. For each elemental sphere after
the first (air/earth/fire/water) you pay an
additional startup fee based on the number
of spheres you already know. Thus, if a Wu-Jen
has advanced in fire, and choses to buy 1st degree
earth, he pays 1 point for a new sphere, and then
1 point for 1st degree. If he then chooses
to advance in Air, he pays 2 points to start a
new sphere, and 1 point for 1st degree. The
Spirit sphere is not counted as an elemental
sphere for this purpose.
A wu-jen gains 1 spherepoint per level
A wu-jen gains one additional point at hero

A Wu-Jen starts with one spell, and gains an
additional spell every 3 levels, thus a level
19+2 Wu-Jen has access to 8 spells. Spells may
be selected from any degree of mastery the Wu-Jen
has attained provided the Wu-Jen has learned at
least one spell from a lower level. For example,
to learn a 3rd degree Fire spell, a Wu-Jen must
know a 2nd degree spell from any sphere.
Paraelemental spells count as spells, but metaskills
do not.

A Wu-Jen who achieves the 3rd degree of mastery
of any two of the cardinal elements gains access
to a Paraelemental spell. These spells may be
viewed by listing the paraspells in the library.

A Wu-Jen who achieves the 3rd degree of mastery
of three spheres can gain access to a metaskill.
These skills can be viewed by listing metaskill in
the great library.
