Title : new players
Some of you may have noticed that any character class you picked
on generating a new character resulted in you being sent to the
cleric newbie quest. This is because I de-classed the cleric
one to be for anyone and even moved it out of the guild. This
was because I wanted a quest that everyone could do even if their
guild didn't have one yet.
In doing so, though, I took out (temporarily) the other quests
that WERE in for classes. I have just added back the Native
quest so natives will properly get their own quest now.
The others will come back when I get time to confirm they are
p to standards - something I didn't have time to do before.
You will also see a little flavor-text when you create a new
character telling you about the quest and urging you to get
going on it - rather than relying entirely on the NPC in that
room to encourage you to quest. It looks like this, for
natives:
evil mages has recently escalated further. A mage clan has set up an
encampment on native soil. Chieftain Lo-Nong requires your urgent
assistance
in reclaiming their territory. Please visit him and start your journey.
It is bright, but you can still see.
Just to give you an idea.
I will need the other quest designers to generate something like
that for their quests before I can put them in the game.
If you guys find bugs in these areas I would personally very
much appreciate you submitting them to the bug system. It is
very important to me that these areas be top quality to keep
our new players and theynot be driven off by bad quest
syntax or stuff. However, that being said, both of these quests
have a LOT of code in them and the other areas that aren't even
in the game anymore took each of those coders over a month (and
some quite a bit more) to code, so sweeping design changes really
aren't something I want to tackle at this point. Let's focus on
big bang-for-the-buck kind of changes to make these rock solid.
I'm sure my own Cleric area has many things that can be fixed in
it as well - bug them!
Thanks.
